Revision activities / German study practice
Learning focus: Reading. This original Grade 11 German exercise gives you a task, a suggested response and a follow-up challenge. It is classroom practice, not an official assessment paper.
Understand the idea
A short German passage can be understood by identifying the subject, verb and key information. Answer from the passage before making assumptions.
Try the activity
Read: Amina wohnt in Nairobi. Sie liest gern. State her location and interest.
Attempt your response before opening the guidance. Show the steps, textual evidence or reasons that support your answer; a final answer alone may hide a misunderstanding.

Show suggested answer and reasoning
Amina lives in Nairobi and enjoys reading. Wohnt gives the place of residence, while liest gern indicates enjoyment of reading. The text does not identify her nationality or age.
Follow-up challenge
Write two questions about the passage and underline the evidence for each answer. Add a third sentence that introduces a new detail.
Review your work
- Did you answer the question actually asked?
- Can you explain the method or evidence in your own words?
- What would you change if one condition in the task changed?
Use the suggested response to identify one correction, then attempt the task again without copying it. For an open-ended question, other well-supported answers may be reasonable. Ask your teacher to check interpretations or language forms where needed.
