Understand the idea

A spoken introduction combines a greeting with information appropriate to the situation. Practise meaning and pronunciation rather than memorising sounds alone.

Build a short introduction using Guten Tag and Ich heiße Amina. What could you ask an informal partner?

Guten Tag is a greeting and Ich heiße Amina means My name is Amina. Wie heißt du? asks an informal partner’s name. A formal address uses a different form, such as Wie heißen Sie?

Follow-up challenge

Practise both formal and informal exchanges with teacher feedback. Check that the form of address stays consistent throughout the dialogue.

Use the suggested response to identify one correction, then attempt the task again without copying it. For an open-ended question, other well-supported answers may be reasonable. Ask your teacher to check interpretations or language forms where needed.
