Grade 11 Arabic Greeting Dialogue Practice

Revision activities / Arabic study practice

Learning focus: Listening and Speaking. This original Grade 11 Arabic exercise gives you a task, a suggested response and a follow-up challenge. It is classroom practice, not an official assessment paper.

Understand the idea

A basic spoken exchange should match the relationship between speakers and allow each speaker to respond. Practise listening for meaning before repeating a memorised phrase.

Try the activity

Build a short greeting using مرحبًا and ask كيف حالك؟ Explain what the two expressions do.

Attempt your response before opening the guidance. Show the steps, textual evidence or reasons that support your answer; a final answer alone may hide a misunderstanding.

This is your own assessment, not automatic marking.

Show suggested answer and reasoning

مرحبًا is a greeting, while كيف حالك؟ asks How are you? A possible response is بخير، شكرًا, meaning Fine, thank you. Pronunciation and the form of address should be practised with teacher guidance.

Follow-up challenge

Perform the exchange with a partner, then change roles. Check pronunciation and appropriate address rather than judging success only by speed.

Review your work

  • Did you answer the question actually asked?
  • Can you explain the method or evidence in your own words?
  • What would you change if one condition in the task changed?

Use the suggested response to identify one correction, then attempt the task again without copying it. For an open-ended question, other well-supported answers may be reasonable. Ask your teacher to check interpretations or language forms where needed.
