Grade 11 Arabic Demonstrative Agreement Exercise

Revision activities / Arabic study practice

Learning focus: Grammar in Use. This original Grade 11 Arabic exercise gives you a task, a suggested response and a follow-up challenge. It is classroom practice, not an official assessment paper.

Understand the idea

Arabic demonstratives agree with the noun being referred to. A simple practice task can compare a masculine and a feminine singular example.

Try the activity

Complete: ___ كتاب and ___ مدرسة using هذا or هذه.

Attempt your response before opening the guidance. Show the steps, textual evidence or reasons that support your answer; a final answer alone may hide a misunderstanding.

Self-assessment checklist

This is your own assessment, not automatic marking.

Self-assessed checklist: 0/4

Show suggested answer and reasoning

Use هذا كتاب for This is a book and هذه مدرسة for This is a school. كتاب is grammatically masculine and مدرسة is grammatically feminine in these examples.

Follow-up challenge

Write two additional examples checked by your teacher. Pay attention to spelling and direction of writing; do not assume every noun’s gender can be identified by a single rule.

Review your work

  • Did you answer the question actually asked?
  • Can you explain the method or evidence in your own words?
  • What would you change if one condition in the task changed?

Use the suggested response to identify one correction, then attempt the task again without copying it. For an open-ended question, other well-supported answers may be reasonable. Ask your teacher to check interpretations or language forms where needed.
