Revision activities / ICT study practice
Learning focus: ICT and Society. This original Grade 11 ICT exercise gives you a task, a suggested response and a follow-up challenge. It is classroom practice, not an official assessment paper.
Understand the idea
Digital citizenship includes protecting personal information and judging requests before responding. A message that appears urgent is not necessarily genuine.
Try the activity
A message claims a school account will close unless the learner submits a password through a link. Explain a safe response.
Attempt your response before opening the guidance. Show the steps, textual evidence or reasons that support your answer; a final answer alone may hide a misunderstanding.

Show suggested answer and reasoning
Do not enter the password or use the message link. Verify through the school’s known contact or normal sign-in page and report the suspicious message. Urgency, unexpected credential requests and mismatched addresses are warning signs.
Follow-up challenge
Create a checklist for evaluating a message. Use an invented example and avoid displaying real passwords, private messages or account details.
Review your work
- Did you answer the question actually asked?
- Can you explain the method or evidence in your own words?
- What would you change if one condition in the task changed?
Use the suggested response to identify one correction, then attempt the task again without copying it. For an open-ended question, other well-supported answers may be reasonable. Ask your teacher to check interpretations or language forms where needed.
