Grade 11 Hindu Cultural Practice Research Task

Revision activities / HRE study practice

Learning focus: Cultural Practices. This original Grade 11 HRE exercise gives you a task, a suggested response and a follow-up challenge. It is classroom practice, not an official assessment paper.

Understand the idea

A cultural-practice report should distinguish what participants do, what it means to them and how practice may vary. Respectful inquiry avoids treating one community as representative of all.

Try the activity

Plan a report on a Hindu festival or practice studied in class. Which questions should guide it?

Attempt your response before opening the guidance. Show the steps, textual evidence or reasons that support your answer; a final answer alone may hide a misunderstanding.

Self-assessment checklist

This is your own assessment, not automatic marking.

Self-assessed checklist: 0/4

Show suggested answer and reasoning

Ask about purpose, sequence, symbols, participants and variations across communities. Use a reliable class-approved source and attribute explanations to it. Separate observed practice from assumptions about belief.

Follow-up challenge

Produce a one-page report with an introduction, evidence and reflection. Seek consent before any interview or image use and do not publish private personal details.

Review your work

  • Did you answer the question actually asked?
  • Can you explain the method or evidence in your own words?
  • What would you change if one condition in the task changed?

Use the suggested response to identify one correction, then attempt the task again without copying it. For an open-ended question, other well-supported answers may be reasonable. Ask your teacher to check interpretations or language forms where needed.
